Is your band looking to play at SXSW or MIDEM 2011?

Following on from their activities at SXSW 2010, the Timeless Music Project have this week announced that they have booked SXSW and MIDEM representatives to come to Leeds to talk to local bands and musicians.

The Yorkshire SXSW briefing event will include presentations on "how to apply for a showcase", which will include more about the events and whether it is right for you, "how to get there", "how to make the most of your time at the events" and "how to find out about financial assistance and other support available".

SXSW is held annually in Austin Texas and is regarded by many as the most important US based Music Conference relevant to British Music.

MIDEM in France is regarded by many as the most important Europe based showcasing, deal striking and networking event in the international music industry.

The background to the Briefing event in Leeds is a sharp increase in interest in Yorkshire music at SXSW and MIDEM.

For SXSW 2009 and 2010, the Timeless Music Project and its partners ensured that Yorkshire even had its own showcase CD and a dedicated concert at the British Music Embassy venue.

The concert showcased homegrown acts such as Wild Beasts, Sky Larkin, Talk To Angels, Rolo Tomassi, Paul Marshall, Grammatics, The Crookes, Middleman, Slow Club and One Night Only to packed music industry industry crowds.

Many more Yorkshire bands played SXSW at other showcases.

The Yorkshire SXSW briefing event will take place at the Brudenell Social Club at 7pm on Wednesday 1st September 2010.

Guest speakers include Una Johnston (SXSW), Javier Lopez (MIDEM), and Phil Patterson (UKT&I Music Industry Specialist). Local band Middleman will appear live at 10pm.

Registration for the event is free at www.musicyorkshire.com.
