With just a few weeks left to go until Leeds' indoor festival Raisetheroof transforms the Leeds West Indian Centre, it is today celebrating its nomination for a UK Festival Award.

The national award scheme has credited the likes of Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds festivals, and has recently nominated Raisetheroof for 'Best Metropolitan Festival'.

Seeking to recognise the festivals that take place in urban areas, Raisetheroof has been nominated alongside the likes of London's Camden Crawl and The Warehouse Project in Manchester.

"We're delighted that we've a chance to put Leeds on the map", commented organiser Roxanne. "The voting is proportionate to the size of the event, so even though we're small, we're still in with a chance!"

Voters are urged to visit www.festivalawards.com to register their vote.

Raisetheroof 2010 takes place at the West Indian Centre on Friday, 8th October. The festival is headlined by Dreadzone, who will perform a full live set. Other bands include Middleman, Exodus, Honeydrum and China Shop Bull.
