Organisers of the annual Leeds Festival are planning their first increase in site capacity since Leeds Music Scene reported an increase of 5,000 back in 2006.

According to a recent YEP article [link], event organisers Festival Republic are planning to request a 5,000 increase per year for the next 4 years.

The current capacity stands at 70,000 and the plans would see that rising to 90,000 music fans attending the Bramham Park site each day in 2014.

The revelation follows other recent news that festival arrests were down in 2010 compared with 2009, and a campaign to rid the site of ticket touts was hailed a success by police and organisers.

Tickets for Leeds 2011 will be on sale in March.
