The official line up for Leeds 2012 was announced this evening at 715pm live on air on BBC Radio One.

Hotly rumoured for a headline slot this year were Foo Fighters, Kasabian, and The Cure and it came as no surprise to many when the three bands were announced.

Earlier in the day both Kaiser Chiefs and At The Drive-In were leaked via Twitter.

Also leaked were Yorkshire bands The Cribs and Pulled Apart by Horses who were confirmed via an interview with Calendar by festival organiser Melvin Benn.

Headliners on the NME / Radio One Stage were announced as Justice, The Maccabees and At The Drive-In, while Metronomy were announced as headliner for the Dance Stage (Sunday).

Many more bands are still to be announced, including the full line ups for the Lock Up Stage, the Festival Republic Stage and the BBC Introducing Stage.

Leeds Festival takes place at Bramham Park on the August Bank Holiday with three days of live music between 24th August and 26th August 2012.

The price of a weekend ticket this year is £197.50 - a weekend ticket includes camping.

The cost of attending for a single day is £85.

You should only buy your ticket from official Leeds Festival 2012 ticket agencies, such as Ticketmaster and See Tickets.

Leeds independent music shops Jumbo Records and Crash Records will be selling tickets in store from 9am on Tuesday 13th March

This year also sees the introduction of the Ticket Instalment Plan. This scheme allows festival fans to spread the cost of a weekend ticket into four equal payments.
