Paul Thomas Saunders has this week announced the release of a new EP via RT60. Titled 'Descartes Highlands' the EP will be released on Monday 30th April.

'Descartes Highlands' was written, recorded and produced by Paul Thomas Saunders and has all the beauty and atmosphere of its 2011 predecessor, 'Lilac & Wisteria'. The full tracklisting is:

1. The Trail Remains Unseen
2. A Lunar Veteran's Guide to Re-entry
3. Let The Carousel Display You & I
4. Santa Muerte's Lightning & Flare

Fans of the Leeds musician were offered an early taster from the EP in the form of the track 'Let The Carousel Display You & I' which Paul Thomas Saunders made available on his official website before Christmas and which subsequently spread online gaining coverage from NME to France's Les Inrock.

'A Lunar Veteran's Guide to Re-Entry' sits somewhere between Ryan Adams at his most melancholy and introspective and Cass McCombs at his dreamy, though-dark-as-the-night best; whereas 'Santa Muerte's Lighting & Flare' and 'The Trail Remains Unseen' have a fragile, celestial vocal weaving darkly whimsical, nostalgic tales.

Paul Thomas Saunders will be appearing live at the Deer Shed Festival in Thirsk in July.
