Organisers of the annual Leeds Festivals have confirmed The Libertines as the third Main Stage headliner - following on from the previous announcements for Metallica and Mumford & Sons.

The indie-rockers first appeared at the festival in 2002 (read our review) and again in 2003 and 2004. In 2010 they headlined the NME Radio One Stage (read our review).

Festival boss Melvin Benn said, "What a band to announce as our third headliner. The Libertines are part of the Reading & Leeds family and I can't wait for the boys to walk on to our Main Stages in their rightful place at the top of the bill."

The Libertines will headline on the Friday night (28th August), Mumford & Sons on the Saturday (29th), and Metallica on the Sunday (30th).

Other bands confirmed this week to be playing at Leeds 2015 are All Time Low, Bring Me The Horizon, Kendrick Lamar, The Maccabees, Knife Party, Limp Bizkit, Tyler, The Creator, Swim Deep, Everything Everything, Jamie XX, Boy Better Know, Camo & Krooked, Hudson Mohawke, New Found Glory, Mastodon, Cancer Bats, Django Django, The Wombats, Frank Turner, Ash, A$AP Ferg, Flatbush Zombies, Azealia Banks, Lethal Bizzle, and Stormzy.

Leeds Festival 2015 takes place over the August Bank Holiday, 28th-30th August 2015. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and See Tickets.
