The announcement for the six winning bands for the Futuresound 2005 competition was made last night. Throughout the summer, the Cockpit venue has hosted gigs featuring thirty of the area's finest bands and with the assistance of industry judges these thirty were reduced to just six, with the selected bands getting to make an appearance at Leeds Festival alongside the likes of Iron Maiden and Pixies. The overall winner also receives studio time and music equipment.

The six bands set to join the line up on the Lee Sounds Unsigned Stage are Last Days Of Vengeance, O Fracas, Bam Bam Francs, Ali Whitton, Western Suburbs and Voltage Union.

When told of their success in Futuresound O Fracas frontman Ben Chapler said to LMS, "We are delighted to be on the line up and we are really looking forward to playing". Guitarist Alex Farrar added "We're excited that people enjoyed us". The band are also keeping their collective fingers crossed for a decent time slot and some free weekend passes. Good luck lads!
