Leeds international beatbox star Shlomo is set to host the first Independent Leeds Music Awards event on January 7th 2006, and we have a pair of tickets to give away for the event.

Conceived by an enthusiastic group of local music-lovers - including promoters, writers, musicians and fans - the Independent Leeds Music Awards aims to acknowledge the people who make astounding hip-hop, electronic, rock, metal, punk, acoustic, roots, dance and indie music, as well as the venues, writers, tunes and albums that have made the past year such a great one for music fans in and around Leeds.

In an unprecedented event at Northern Light in Leeds City Centre on Saturday January 7th, twelve awards will be presented.

The ceremony will double as a showcase for some of the amazing talent across the range of Leeds' vibrant music communities. Shlomo himself will be hosting the night, and showing off the beat boxing skills that have taken him to guest appearances on a Björk album, the Sydney Olympics and (most recently) BBC2's "Later With Jools Holland".

In between the parade of honoured Award holders and nominees, there will be performances by four day Hombre, Jon Gomm, Kid Kanevil, Semi Squared, Send More Paramedics, That Fucking Tank and Waking The Witch.

Tickets for the event are £5, and can be purchased at Jumbo Records in the St John's Centre and Crash Records on the Headrow.

To win a pair of tickets send an email to awards-comp@leedsmusicscene.net with the subject “TILMA Competition", answering this very simple question:

Which Leeds beatbox star will be hosting the first Independent Leeds Music Awards?

Closing Date is Thursday, 5th January, one winner (selected from winning submissions) will be notified the following day.
