Leeds five-piece Kaiser Chiefs have been short listed for an amazing five awards at The Brits 2006. The quintet, who last year received a Mercury Awards nomination, are up for Best Band, Best Rock Band, Best Live Band, Best Album and Best Breakthrough Act.

Kaiser Chiefs are also set to appear live at the ceremony, which takes place at London's Earls Court on February 15th.

It’s been quite a year for the band and the end of year awards just keep coming - their successful platinum selling album “Employment” was named “Breakthrough Album of the Year” by The Times and was also voted in the Top 5 for “Album Of The Year“ by The Observer Music Monthly, NME and Q.

In other Kaiser Chiefs news, the band are to enter the studio shortly to begin work on their second album, and finally Kaiser Chiefs play Leeds’ Millennium Square on 29th April (with Graham Coxon and Polysics) and 30th April (with The Cribs and Duels).
