The line up for the Leeds Festival 2008 was revealed today, although it was not much of a surprise as one of the most-rumoured line ups of recent years was finally confirmed this evening.

Earlier this year, festival organisers announced that the festival would have all-American headliners (confirmed tonight as being Rage Against The Machine, The Killers, Metallica) and one of those bands subsequently let the date ‘slip’ on their website in advance. Of particular interest to LMS readers is the fact that it will be local lads The Cribs that will close the opening evening’s entertainment on the Radio One / NME Stage.

The year is a special anniversary event for the Reading & Leeds Festivals as Reading celebrates its 20th year and Leeds celebrates its 10th. So, if you haven’t seen the line up already, here it is.

Main Stage headliners this year will be Metallica (Friday), Rage Against The Machine (Saturday) and The Killers (Sunday). The Radio One / NME Stage headliners will be The Cribs (Friday), Babyshambles (Saturday) and Manic Street Preachers (Sunday).

Other bands confirmed today include Queens Of The Stone Age; The Fratellis; The Enemy; Biffy Clyro; Serj Tankian; Dizee Rascal; Taking Back Sunday; Get Cape Wear Cape Fly; Anti Flag; The Wombats; Vampire Weekend; MGMT; Bloc Party; Raconteurs; Editors; We Are Scientists; Dirty Pretty Things; The Subways; Bullet For My Valentine; Justice; Foals; Tenacious D; Slipknot; Feeder; Avenged Sevenfold; Dropkick Murphys; The Young Knives; Conor Oberst and Pendulum.

More bands will be confirmed throughout the summer.

Tickets for Leeds Festival 2008 are available now through See Tickets and Ticketmaster, priced at £155 (full weekend, including camping) and £65 (single day tickets).

Leeds Festival takes place at Bramham Park on the August Bank Holiday weekend (Friday to Sunday, 22nd to 24th August 2008).
